Etsy fee calculator

Etsy charges a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee on the item price plus the shipping you charge, and payment processing of about 3% + $0.25. Offsite Ads, when they apply, add 12% or 15% of the whole order on top. This calculator applies all four to your numbers and shows your take-home and margin.

Offsite Ads

Charged only when the order came from an Etsy-placed offsite ad. Under $10,000 of sales in the past 365 days the rate is 15% and you can opt out; at $10,000 or more it is 12% and mandatory.

The fees, in the order Etsy applies them

  1. Listing fee — $0.20 per listing. Charged when you publish and again every four months on renewal, whether or not it sells.
  2. Transaction fee — 6.5%. Charged on the item price plus the shipping you charge the buyer. This is the line most sellers forget, and on a low-price/high-shipping item it is material.
  3. Payment processing — about 3% + $0.25 in the US, varying by country.
  4. Offsite Ads — 15% or 12%. Only on orders that came from an Etsy-placed offsite ad. Under $10,000 of sales in the past 365 days it is 15% and you can opt out; at $10,000 or more it is 12% and mandatory.

A $30 item with $5 shipping costs about $3.78 in mandatory fees, rising to about $9.03 with Offsite Ads at 15%.

Why this matters for Pinterest

Every order arriving from your own pin is an order with no Offsite Ads fee attached. That is a 12–15% margin difference on those orders, and it is a stronger argument for the channel than any traffic statistic.

The full version of that argument, plus what to pin when listings sell out, is in Pinterest for Etsy sellers.

Fees change

Etsy adjusts these. The rates above were checked against published sources in August 2026 — every input in the calculator is editable for exactly that reason, so a rate change does not make the tool wrong.

Common questions

How much does Etsy take per sale?

A $0.20 listing fee, 6.5% of the item price plus the shipping you charge, and payment processing of roughly 3% + $0.25. On a $30 item with $5 shipping that is about $3.78 before any advertising.

Is the 6.5% charged on shipping too?

Yes. Etsy's transaction fee applies to the total the buyer pays for the order, including the shipping you charge them. This is the single most commonly missed line in seller maths.

When do Offsite Ads fees apply?

Only when a sale comes from an Etsy-placed offsite ad. Under $10,000 in the past 365 days the rate is 15% and participation is optional; at $10,000 or more it is 12% and mandatory.

Do I pay Offsite Ads on traffic I sourced myself?

No. An order that arrives from your own Pinterest pin, newsletter or social post carries no Offsite Ads fee, which is worth 12–15% of margin on those orders.
